The legend of "La Peregrina", the famous pearl of the Spanish crown, has a history nearly as rich as the women who wore it. It traveled through Spanish, English, and French royalty before Richard Burton purchased it for Elizabeth Taylor in 1969. The couple was famous for their extravagent jewelry acquisitions, and La Peregrina was no exception. Burton valued it for its historical significance, while Taylor was intoxicated with the breathtaking beauty of the pearl. Liz then commissioned Cartier to create a vintage style collar necklace of diamonds, rubies, and pearls to display La Peregrina. Our Elizabeth Taylor Inspired Faux Peregrina Pearl Necklace is based on this design, with bezel set CZ rubies amid pave set "flames" of faux diamonds. They're all strung along double rows of gleaming, graduated faux pearls. The infamous La Peregrina is absent, though, because we simply couldn't find an imitation pearl that did it justice!
